hmm... Detailed?

That depends. In game during a race? Yes. and No. The cars detail in polys will be sharp but the rendering will likely be reduced to keep the crispy 60 fps. In the "staging" mode and viewing mode (like in the dealership) the resources are diverted straight to the car so the details will be amped up.
